Welcome to our new website and listings for Dye House Lofts.
We moved into our studio in the Olneyville section of Providence a little over a year ago and are inspired everyday by the community we found here.
We have been renting our Dye House Lofts for the past year with Air BNB and have decided to also rent our rooms direct. We have had great times with the 200+ guests that stayed with us over the past year. We hope to meet new people that we can inspire. We want to share our love of all things Providence and let others peek inside of our world of art making and design .
The Dye House
Our studio and home are located in a historical building that was created as a dye house for the Weybosset Mills in the 1880's. We fell in love when we stumbled upon it last October and moved from Los Angeles to begin a new adventure in a community full of art and commerce, people who are making, learning, and living an inspired life together.
Jim & Peter
Let us introduce ourselves to you and what we do.
Peter Souza has an extensive design, build, and property management background specializing in restoration and historic preservation. Peter is a principal of J Schatz, a ceramic studio located in Olneyville.
Jim Schatz has an extensive creative design and marketing background with a emphasis in fine art and creative installation. Jim is a principal and founder of J Schatz.
We bring people together to create and inspire communities.
We support arts, culture, and diversity.
We design live/work spaces, residential buildings, private residences, restaurants, and hotels.
We design and produce ceramics, furniture, and objects.
We are inspired by the idea that art, interior design, property development, and community work together as a profitable economic partnership; a shared vision and collaboration that will generate sustained creative and economic fulfillment.
